'Tortoise, coming home' artwork? TUUURTLE Collective Year of production: 2020 Materials: poplar wood / faux leather / carpet Dimensions: L 250 cm x W 220 cm x H 150 cm Fully removable 'Tortoise, coming home' is a work to be experienced. It offers a sensitive journey inward, opening up to a space of safety and protection, away from the world's acceleration. It is a home within oneself, where everyone can settle, unfold, explore… and be surprised by what emerges. Showing up on the path of a long quest to inhabit oneself from the inside, the turtle that advances in the world with its house on its back presented itself one day to Dominique Ringler as the messenger of an inner transformation at work: access to a house, a welcoming, free and peaceful space inside, in slow and perpetual evolution The turtle is a matrix, refuge or cocoon, it is a place of exploration, knowledge and healing. The turtle is also movement, it advances at its own pace in its relationship to the world. The turtle is poetry and symbol, of longevity, patience, persistence, wisdom and peace. In this world that pulls us outward, TUUURTLE invites us to enter this space where the dimensions of the feminine, the container, and the maternal ground us, bringing us together and unifying us. This allows us to connect fully with all living beings of which we are a part. Cave, shelter, cocoon, shell, refuge… each person can find the term that resonates within them.
TUUURTLE, with its three 'U's,
is an invitation to explore an expanded
dimension of time and space.
It offers an experience of a safe space - a letting go, free from external pressures - that allows for a deeper connection with oneself, others, and the environment.
The letter 'U' symbolizes a receptacle, a welcoming space,
suggesting a willingness to receive and embrace. It also represents a cyclical movement, a return to oneself after a descent,
signifying both grounding and elevation. The three uppercase 'U's appear to join together like hands holding each other, forming a visual link of solidarity.
TUUURTLE path We live in a hyperconnected world where we are constantly pushed to DO things quickly. As a result, we are perpetually pulled out of ourselves, racing from one day to the next, from one thought to the next, from one action to the next, often losing ourselves along the way and becoming exhausted. TUUURTLE creates an environment where we can be present both to ourselves and to other beings, human and non-human. Each TUUURTLE experience, like the sculpture 'Tortoise, coming home,' reflects this journey of discovery, opening us up to nourishing and peaceful encounters within ourselves and with the world. TUUURTLE is rooted in relational art, an inclusive and participatory approach where individual experiences enrich collective relationships. It is a space where ART becomes a bridge to welcome, listen, and create connections.
TUUURTLE artistic approach? TUUURTLE creates immersive, participatory works that challenge our relationship with the living world, reconnect us with our core values, and invite us to experience deeper connections with ourselves, others, and all living beings. The experiential protocols encourage us to take the time to pause, reflect, feel, observe, question, and interact through the proposed artistic gestures. The experiential artistic installations, inspired by nature and made from various materials, shapes, and sizes, are easily dismantled and portable, always under the watchful eyes of Filouz, the Hermann's tortoise, and Louise, the Cavalier King Charles.
The TUUURTLE collective? Made up of four women with multiple backgrounds, the TUUURTLE collective shares the same artistic sensitivity, a common wonder at the beauty and intelligence of all living things and the conviction that empathy and dialogue with it are essential to transform our way of inhabiting the world. Gaétane Bibot: Within the TUUURTLE collective I share my creativity and my know-how to develop with my friends our devices and our tools in order to allow everyone to explore their inner treasures, to resume their rhythm in harmony with the living and to express your talents. TUUURTLE, a joyful and committed feminine impulse to re-enchant the world. Sophie Lévy: Moving forward with TUUURTLE reinforces my deep conviction in the transformative power of art and the inspiring power of nature. With the women of TUUURTLE I experience the joy of being, of being amazed, of exchanging, of learning and of doing together. I bring to TUUURTLE my sensitivity, my analytical mind and my creative hands. Dominique Ringler: I am deeply committed to welcoming, understanding, and valuing the uniqueness, profound sensitivity, and beauty of each Being. As the mother of TUUURTLE, I am equally dedicated to creating a space of safety and freedom within it. This space allows precisely each of us to freely express our ways of being, relating, creating, and daring to question our artistic choices. ` Tania Wolski: Tuuurtle is about sharing, thinking, laughing and exploring together for an engaged creation that asks the question of being with ourselves, others and all living things of which we are a part. It’s a long, exciting road. TUUURTLE FOREVER A heartfelt thank you to each of you who initiated the adventure with us, set the groundwork, and continue to nourish TUUURTLE in your own way: Ilona de Haas, Delphine de la Kethulle, Ariane Hanin, Marie Hendrick, Joelle Liberman and Anouk Sendrowicz Thank you Caroline de Barneville for your strong support and generous contribution
